Well, it's official. I'm in. I have been accepted into the masters program I applied for and classes start on Thursday. Of course, in typical Bolivian style, registration was a week late and all that I know is that I am supposed to show up at school Thursday morning at 9, no schedule, no books, none of that. Not yet at least. I am hoping that will come on Thursday.
The bad news (or maybe good?) is I have to go to Peru this weekend. Between the time we got here and the time I got into school the laws changed so a person who enters the country with a turist visa cannot solicit a student visa while in the country. So I have to cross the border and find the nearest Bolivian consulate to give me a "Determined Objectve" visa so I can come back to Cochabamba and get a student visa. I think. I talked to a lawyer about it so it sounds right, but I should be prepared for anything. I just pray no hidden paperwork shows up (with hidden costs) or worse that Bolivia breaks down into violence and blockades again while I'm travelling.
So I'm really excited about starting class. This is an adventure that I have be looking forward to for a very long time. It is crazy to be in a place that you have been waiting for and thinking about for two years. It almost feels like a dream. Now to step into whatever is to come. . .
