Thanksgiving Week:
Although we are on another continent, and another hemisphere, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving. Somehow, being in another culture for these holidays can bring new light and a new sense of joy in the holidays and traditions that I have celebrated all my life. Thanksgiving is not celebrated by Bolivians, but we are sharing this day (actually Saturday) with many of our friends and neighbors. We have been planning this celebration for a few weeks now, and it is exciting to see how it truly will be a celebration here. Some will be coming that are not able to eat large meals, even on hoidays. Some are coming who aren't ever able to celebrate with family. Still others are coming that have found themselves in a place of depression and harships. This Thanksgiving, we are excited to come together over a large meal, in a house full of friends and many brothers and sisters in Christ, and be thankful for the food we have, the fellowship we have, and the Joy and Hope we have in each day. It has nearly brought me to tears as I realize how many Thanksgivings I have not truly been thankful. My friends here have shown me what it really means to be thankful.
