Visiting

This weekend, we had the unique opportunity of visiting two families of my students. We were invited to their houses, and it was really the first time that we were able to see a glimpse of how their families interact. Drew and I really enjoyed it. Both families live surprisingly close to us, and we were welcomed back anytime. The first house we went to, we were greeted by my student who had dressed up in a formal dress. Drew and I were a little shocked, hoping that we had not dressed too casually. Luckily, we had dressed appropriately, my student was just excited because she had never had a teacher come to her house before. We enjoyed a nice dinner with her family, and were completely amazed at the family dynamics. In the middle of the dinner, the mom got up to get something from the kitchen. Her 10 year old son asked, "Can I help you Mom?" We were blown away. This family was almost picture perfect in the way that they related with eachother and helped eachother out. It was nice to see.

The next family that we visited was a little different, but still the family was very loving. The boys were out playing the whole time as we talked with their mom. The father is away on buisness much of the time, and so the wife stays at home taking care of the boys. In both families, the moms complained a little about having to take care of their children. We were warned not to have children because they can be the biggest pain. But it was surprising what a pain they said children could be, yet thats all they spend their time on. It seemed slightly oxymoronic.

Anyways, we had a good time, and now this is the last week of classes. We are getting excited to go on a big trip. But we are getting soaked by the massive rains that have hit us. Really, we have had major rains and it makes all our cobblestone roads mud pits, which makes the walk to and from school really exciting!
