Three days this week, I have gone to immigration after school and waited for 2 hours every day, (until their offices close) to wait for a simple identification card. Three days later, I have nothing to show. Its very frustrating that the only reason they won't give it to me, that I know of, is because of my nationality. Yesterday, they got mad at the group of us there because they said we were talking too loud. For this reason, they couldn't work. I've been told, if I slip 50 Bolivianos (about $7)here or there, I'll get whatever I need. So I will go again today. We'll see what happens. There shouldn't be any bribing involved today.
My small victory is that I got a phone call last night from a Bolivian friend, and I understood everything he said, he didn't have to repeat himself, and I was able to respond! Talking on the phone in Spanish is one of my least favorite things, but I was proud of myself for last night's accomplishment.
