Looking back at 2008, I thought I would share a list of books that I read that year. I hope I can remember them all, but I like to read and thought it might give a little insight into what I have been thinking and learning about in the last year. So here goes. . .

Christianity Rediscovered, Vincent Donovan (a re-read because I like it so much)
Everything Must Change, Brian McLaren
The Last Word and the Word after That: A Tale of Faith, Doubt, and a New Kind of Christianity, Brian McLaren (just read all 3 New Kind of Chrisitian books, they are good)
Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor, Leonardo Boff
Simpler Living, Compassionate Life: A Christian Perspective, Michael Schut, ed.
Ismael, Daniel Quinn (another re-read)
Jesus for President, Shane Claiborne
Culture Shock! Bolivia, Mark Cramer
The Art of the Commonplace, Wendell Berry
The Unsettling of America, Wendell Berry
Fidelity, Wendell Berry
Bless Me Ultima, Rudolfo Anaya
Missions and Money: Affluence as a Western Missionary Problem, Jonathan Bonk
The Politics of Jesus, John H. Yoder
Salt and Light: Living the Sermon on the Mount, Eberhard Arnold (an amazing person I am just learning more about)
The New Man, Thomas Merton
La Revolucion de Evo Morales: De la Coca al Palacio, Pablo Stefanoni and Herve do Alto
La Tierra no da asi no mas, Hans Van den Berg
Desarrollo Endogeno en la Practica, edited by COMPAS
Religion y Desarrollo en los Andes: Desconstruccion Intercultural de una Relacion Dificil, edited by ISEAT

I guess that is about it, or at least all I can remember. That doesn't include all the articles read for my classes or the Old Testament which I read through as well, and if remember any more I'll add them. I think every book I read was amazing and i would read it again. One thing I can see looking at my list though is that I need a few more novels in my life. Not just serious thinking ones, but just some good classics too. I sometimes get a little burdened by the weight of the book I am reading. But now it is time for 2009. I'm starting off the year with a couple books on endogenous development that I have to read for class, and after that there is that ever-present reading list still hovering over me. But I'm also open to suggestions. Got any good ones?
