Normal Day
I enjoy normal days. Today was one of them. It started out slow, with a hot cup of linaza con limon. Next, off to school for an errand. When I got back to the house, the day seemed to explode. First came the cows. 4 Cows grazed our yard all afternoon along with the 3 children that came with them. At first the children were shy, but not too long after, they quickly made our house feel like home throwing ping pong balls, soccer balls, and their bodies all over the place. Not too long after came the women from the Co-op. While trying to fix two sewing machines, keep the kids out of the cow poop, and making sure the cows don't eat our non-grass plants (rosemary, mint, flowers, etc.) came the jovenes from Church. They were packing up for a big trip up the mountain tonight which required cooking. While I'm fixing a sewing machine (still) the two year old walks into the middle of the ping pong game with big globs of cow caca on her shoes, even more, she has a big grin on her face (stinky, but so cute!). After cleaning her shoes, I go back inside to help the women, then outside again to give water to the cows who are butting eachother for the little water there is in the yard, which is kinda scary with cows swinging their heads everywhere, and me trying to get through the middle of them (something I never knew or thought of before- cows drink a LOT! I might have filled up my 2-liter bottle 20 times, and they were still thirsty). Back inside, the kids are going crazy, so I decided the cow kids need to go. It had been 4 hours already, and so I was mean and kicked them out (inviting them over another day). Next went one Co-op lady and her 2 year old with caca shoes. Finally, the jovenes decided to leave with their food and gear. Now with the house a little more tranquilo, I was able to sit and actually enjoy the company of the last guest. A woman and her niece who came to work on Co-op stuff. We worked and talked for over an hour, then they decided to go home. Now the house is quiet. Its only Drew and I. We have a nice dinner planned with some other friends as a celebration of finishing school/finishing a thesis (not Drew, the other guy), and the beginning of vacation. Speaking of vacation, I'm really enjoying it. I enjoye spending half my day wandering around the market, coming home to cook, visit, or hang out. Its a nice change of pace. And I have 2 more months of it! Wahoo!
