Thanksgiving again?

Its hard to believe that on another continent north of here, people are having lots of Christmas parties and the stores and houses are all decorated for a cold, winter holiday. Here, the sun is shining, and we are in shorts! Not to mention, there isn't as much Christmas decor everywhere you turn. Our Church is going to celebrate Christmas, but it feels very different here. To me, it feels more like Thanksgiving. Everyone gathers for a big meal. Sharing is a big theme, but presents are an afterthought.

Even after celebrating Thanksgiving with our families in Chattanooga, I feel like we have a lot to be thankful for here too. Nearly every day, we are invited over to a friend's house to share a meal and some good conversation. We are so thankful to have a family here in Cochabamba, that is also encouraging us like our friends and family in the States.

It has also been good to realize that Cochabamba, while it is still a place that is so dear to us, is not where we need to be right now. We see God working in the Church here, but our place here is only to visit right now. Our work is in Santa Cruz, and we are thankful for the rest and friendships we find here in Cochabamba during these few weeks. But, we look forward to settling in Santa Cruz, and seeing what opportunities are waiting for us there.
