The next few weeks will be a big blur, and Drew and I would really appreciate your prayers. Today we go to pay our first month's rent on a nice little house under a mango tree about 20 minutes away from the office. Later tonight, we will hop on a bus that will take us to the Argentine border where we hope to cross over Monday morning. There we will apply for our Visa, and begin the long monster of a process that Visas can be sometimes.
We are really nervous about this border crossing. If we don't have all our paperwork, we will not be allowed back into the country. We have checked with several lawyers to make sure we have everything. But for some reason, each Bolivian consul at the border has its own rules and requirements. There is no such thing as getting on the internet or calling to see what those might be. So you take a stab in the dark, a very wide stab at that, and pray you have thought of everything possible.
When we get back, we will be moving into our new place, and settling in. The only furniture we own right now is a bed, so we have a bit of shopping to do.
A few days later, we head into Guarani territory again for almost a week to give some workshops and visit a few new Churches. When we get back from that, Drew will be off to the march again, and June will be here before you know it.
In the meantime, the weather in Santa Cruz is really nice in the month of May. Apparently we have a break from the extreme heat between May and September, so I am looking forward to enjoying these next few months. Right now, grapefruits, known as "grey" here, are in season. They are the sweetest grapefruits I have ever tasted. I have also been enjoying trying new recipes with my favorite fruit: maracuya (aka passion fruit). My favorite so far: maracuya curd on scones. Yum.
