It has been a while since we posted last. I will make this short because it is way past my bedtime and I have a long day tomorrow. I have been super busy the last two weeks with school. Even though I only have classes 3 days a weeks, they give us enough reading material to cover the other 4 days. Welcome to grad school I guess. Anyways, the material has been incredibly interesting. We have been looking mostly at the spirituality and worldvision of the Andean indigenous people. I have been thinking and reading a lot recently about the role of Christianity in the care of the earth and how our relationship should be with the earth and I find it very interestng that the Andean peoples seem to be much closer to that ideal relationship than most, if not all, North American Christians. It has just made me think a little bit more about how much, or if, God works in other religions and worldviews. Perhaps this weekend will help me in this journey of mine: I am leaving tomorrow to go to a conference in La Paz of the Latin American Theological Fraternity. The topic: indigenous spirituality. Maybe I'll find some more answers, and I'm sure to find more questions, but I'll update you on that later.
Right after the conference I am going to take advantage of the fact that I am up there already and I will go to Puno, Peru once more to see about a visa. I should have all the right papers in place this time, but if they don't give me one, I'm not sure I'll be able to get back in the country.
So you can pray for me for two things: One that the conference will be a time of spiritual growth and renewal as well as an opportunity to get to know the leaders of the Latin American evangelical community. Two that I get a visa. And I guess Three that Ann will be ok here at home without me for a few days.
